OK, I'm drawing a card for today, 4/27/09 - Angels, wise ones, where would you have us go, what would you have us know?
The King of Cups.

You'll notice this guy is floating - on his rudder-less, concrete throne. Not the easiest task. He's got reptilian slippers - he can live in or out of the water (emotions/spirit/creativity). But I get the feeling he's not one with the flow. See how his toes don't touch the cartoon waves? Emotions are funny stuff to him. See how he holds out the goblet, as if to ask us "What do I do with this thing?" And yet, he's got the scepter thing down - it rests easily on his arm-rest. I AM king. i am KING. (Am I King?) His companion, the Queen of Cups, rests easily in all this liquidity - she is in her element. But - and this is a stereotype, OK? - the male archetype has a tough time giving in to feelings, formlessness, whatever comes next. The representation of malenes, not acutal MEN, per se.
So what's this to do with today? Well, what's happening? Oh, an outbreak of the Swine Flu, for one. This scientist - the poor fish specimen dangling as a pendant from his neck - is flush up against a really big problem. Scientific remedies have their limits. Western medicine got pills and procedures that will help or cure or ameliorate a lot. But not everything. And this pompous-looking fellow looks worried. He's reaching out one big toe to test the waters of chaos. (The ocean is THE archetype for what we can't control or understand. Ever have a dream where you were feeling all cocky, only to get flattened by a big wave?) He'd better learn how to surf quickly. We'd all better a) use our wonderful brains and talents to try to navigate through this near-pandemic and then b) either fasten our seatbelts or loosen up. The latter seems to me the better option....

i don't see the queen, but i'll trust you she's there, or on the next card, which i'm looking forward to. And see that scary little reptile, bottom left. whassat? swine flu threat? but is it swimming or drowning? Ruby, thanks for your wisdom in this ocean of uncertainty! paz
Hi Ruby, yes I like your interpretation. I was thinking about how easy to be wiped out by a big wave at the lost coast yesterday.
